Alabama sheriff’s office employee arrested for alleged sexual misconduct with inmate

A Limestone County Sheriff’s Office employee is facing charges after investigators say she had an “inappropriate” relationship with an inmate.

According to a statement from Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin, Tracy Agnes Shehorn, 56, of Athens, has been charged with custodial sexual misconduct and drug possession.

On Tuesday, sheriff’s office investigators received a tip about a relationship between an inmate at the Limestone County Jail and Shehorn, McLaughlin said. The department began an internal and criminal investigation.

McLaughlin said Shehorn has been terminated from her position with the sheriff’s office and was released from the jail on a $12,500 bond.

More charges are possible, according to the sheriff’s office.
